BOP Prince Edward Release Paths
The Federal Bureau of Prisons covers federally sentenced people. A Prince Edward arrest, residence, or stay at PRJ does not make a case federal. Reliable federal facts include a federal docket, U.S. Marshals custody, a BOP register number, or a transfer record naming federal authority. BOP facilities are nationwide, so county location is not a useful placement filter.
A BOP result can show a future release date or that the person was released from BOP custody. Neither answer rules out federal supervised release, later state or local custody, or another custodian. The federal court docket and official BOP record supply the legal and custody context.
Confirm BOP Release Records
Use the BOP Inmate Locator for federal sentenced custody. The strongest search uses the BOP register number or another offered federal identifier. A name search can be refined by middle initial, age, race, and sex. Results generally cover federal prisoners from 1982 forward.
- Choose identifier search when the register number is known.
- Otherwise enter the legal name and available refinements.
- Compare the register number and descriptors.
- Record the release date and exact current location or release indication.
- Compare the result with the federal docket and any later custodian.
“Released” means the person is no longer in BOP custody as reflected by BOP. “Unknown” means the public result does not supply a determined confinement term or release date. It does not mean the person will never be released.
BOP Federal Release Record Fields
The locator is a routing and status tool rather than a certified record. Search results commonly show the name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and current location or release indication. Preserve the exact wording and search date because federal computations can change.
| Field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Register number | Primary BOP identity key |
| Release date | Historical or projected, depending on status |
| Location | Current BOP facility or release indication |
| Released | No longer in BOP custody as reflected by BOP |
| Unknown | Public date or term is not determined |
A future date remains projected. Sentence computations and statutory recalculations can alter it. Seek the official federal record when a dated, authoritative answer is required.
BOP Release Records Contact
There is no single Prince Edward BOP facility because federal placement is nationwide. Start with the locator and the facility shown in the result. For older federal custody before 1982, National Archives research may be required. The federal court clerk can provide docket and judgment records but does not certify a prison gate time.

Federal sentenced custody only
A records request should include the register number, full identity, date range, and exact custody or release field sought. Do not send a PRJ confinement request to BOP unless a documented federal transfer makes BOP the relevant custodian.
BOP Versus USMS Release
The U.S. Marshals Service generally manages federal pretrial detention, movement, and transportation. A marshal detainee may be housed in a contract jail before BOP designation. PRJ’s report that it houses USMS populations does not prove that a particular Prince Edward arrestee has a federal case.
USMS does not offer a public historical released-person locator comparable to BOP’s tool. Use the federal court docket to establish bond, acquittal, remand, or delivery to BOP, then obtain the appropriate custody record. A move out of PRJ under marshal authority can be a transfer rather than community release.
BOP Versus ICE Release
ICE detention is a separate civil immigration channel. Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator only when a PRJ receiving-agency field or another reliable record points to ICE. Search uses an A-number and country of birth or biographical details. The research states that ODLS covers current detention and people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days.
A later no-result proves little after that window. “Released from ICE custody” also does not resolve the immigration proceeding or all legal restraints. Conversely, release from PRJ to ICE means custody continues. Obtain the PRJ transfer field, check ODLS within its scope, and use the immigration record tied to the documented event.
BOP Projected Release Dates
A projected federal date depends on the sentence computation and can move. BOP warns that recalculation, including changes associated with federal law, can affect the public date. Read the date beside current status. A past date and released indication are stronger evidence of completed BOP custody than a future date, but later custody must still be checked separately.
- Projected date
- A computed future date that may change.
- Actual release
- The completed end of BOP custody reflected by the official record.
- Supervised release
- Federal court supervision after imprisonment, distinct from BOP confinement.
- Remand
- A court order sending a defendant into custody.
The sentencing judgment explains the imposed term. BOP performs the custody computation. Keep those roles separate when reconciling a docket date with the locator.
Verify Prince Edward Federal Release
Start with jurisdiction. If the person was federally sentenced, match the BOP record to the federal docket. If the person was only held for USMS, use marshal and court channels. If PRJ identifies ICE, follow immigration custody. The Prince Edward County release search provides the local-to-federal custody chain.
Does a BOP release prove the person is free? It proves only that BOP custody ended as reflected by BOP. Federal supervised release may continue, and another agency may hold the person. Check the release indication, docket, and any receiving authority before describing the outcome.
BOP Historical Release Records
The locator generally covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward. Earlier confinement may require a National Archives inquiry. For later cases, the register number is the strongest key connecting the locator, institution, and records request. A common name without that identifier can produce a false match, especially when the Prince Edward connection comes only from residence or an earlier local arrest.
Keep the federal judgment, BOP release result, and any supervision record as separate layers. The judgment states the sentence. BOP computes and records imprisonment. The federal court administers supervised release after prison. A past BOP date can be accurate while court supervision remains active.
BOP Prince Edward Court Records
The federal docket can show bond, conviction, judgment, remand, and later supervision action. It explains why federal custody began or changed but does not certify BOP’s physical exit time. Compare the docket identity and case number with the register number. If a person was acquitted or released on federal bond before designation, the BOP locator may never be the right source.
A marshal detainee held at PRJ also needs careful routing. PRJ can document its transfer, the federal court can document the order, and USMS controls the pretrial movement record. Do not turn PRJ’s general USMS population statement into evidence about a named person.
BOP Release Follow-Up Records
After a released indication appears, check whether the judgment includes supervised release and whether another agency received the person. Federal supervised release is overseen through the court system, not BOP confinement. A state warrant, local case, or immigration action can create a separate custody path.
When dates conflict, preserve the search date and exact BOP wording. Request the official record with the register number and defined date range. A projected date can move after a recalculation, while a completed release record documents what occurred. No single locator result rules out all later legal control.
BOP Federal Record Review
Before relying on a result, compare the register number, legal name, descriptors, status, location, release date, and the date searched. A Prince Edward connection should come from the docket, transfer record, or another reliable source, not an assumption based on a matching name. Federal placement can occur anywhere in the nation.
Then check whether the result describes a future projection or a past release. Review the federal docket for supervised release and later proceedings. If PRJ or USMS appears earlier, match those events to BOP designation. If ICE or another custodian appears later, continue through that system. The end of BOP custody answers only the federal prison part of the chain.
For an official request, use the register number and a defined date range. Ask for existing release or custody fields, not a new calculation or legal interpretation. Keep the dated response with the locator result.
